Hi Everyone. I have been away from this blog for quite some time but I'm happy to be back. I hope to be posting on here a lot more frequently :)
You can either allow the obstacles in your life to be the excuse for your failure or you can make them the reason behind your success.

Every day is another chance to change your life...If you don’t like what you’re getting then change what you’re doing...keep trying and never give up.
I posted this on MotiveWeight 3 years ago and today I received a request for it so I thought it would be a good idea to repost it.

I recently found a way to make myself work out every day: First I decided to commit to working out every day by just starting very small. On day 1 I was only motivated to workout for 2 minutes (Yes, I know, sounds too little right?). But EVERY DAY thereafter I decided that my absolute minimum would be 2 minutes. No matter how demotivated I felt, I was determined to do my 2 minutes. This goal was so small that it was almost impossible not to do it. By day 3 or 4 I had doubled it to 4 minutes. One week later I felt very comfortable to do 15 minutes, because it was beginning to feel like a HABIT. If on any day I did not feel like working out I would make myself do my minimum of two minutes. By week 2, I was doing 30-45 minutes EVERY DAY. Now it's over a month since I started this new way of staying motivated and I now workout for 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes daily (on my elliptical, spin bike, plus YouTube workout videos).
Working out daily has now become my habit, it would seem as strange to me to not work out as it would to not brush my teeth. If you find yourself saying "I will do my workout" and then find yourself procrastinating, but you really want to say "I DID my workout today" consider starting off with a ridiculously short time of just two minutes, but make sure you do those two minutes EVERY DAY. Within a few weeks to a month you'll find this has become a habit that you'll enjoy and be proud of, which in turn will motivate you to want to exercise for even longer.
Hi everyone, I'm back! I have not posted anything on here for months, I've been so busy with life's ups and downs that I was forced to put MotiveWeight Blogspot on the back burner for a while. But I am now back in full force, feeling great and raring to go. I look forward to posting something on here regularly and continuing my journey to healthy weight loss and fitness with you all again. xxx Linda.

There is a Difference Between Interest and Commitment
There’s a difference between interest and commitment. When you’re interested in doing something, you do it only when it’s convenient. When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses - only results. -Ken Blanchard
Commitment means staying loyal to what you said you were going to do long after the mood you said it in has left you. -Unknown
Commitment leads to action. Action brings your dream closer. -Marcia Wieder.
Commitment is the glue that bonds you to your Goals. -Jill Koenig. Hi Everyone. I have been away from this blog for quite some time but I'm happy to be back. I hope to be posting on here a lot more frequently :)

It's Never Too Late To Start Over
Starting slow is still a start.
Remember why you started.
If you’re tired of starting over, stop giving up.
Everyone starts somewhere…just keep going.
Every day is a new beginning, take a deep breath and start again.
Stop saying I wish, start saying I will
Do what you have always wanted to do, it’s never too late to start.
Start now. Make it happen!
It’s never too late to start over. It’s never too late to be happy.
Motivation gets you started habit keeps you going.
Imagine a new story for your life and start living it.
Starting over sucks, so keep going.
Stop wishing, start doing.
The key to success is to start before you are ready.
Think big, start small.
You don’t have to be great to start but you have to start to be great!

Throw Out The Scale
I must say this quote really had quite an impact on me. I have been thinking of not using the scale for quite some time and the words, "if you don't like what you see in the mirror what difference does it make what the scale says" was the catalyst that will make me stop using the scales (at least for a while). It's true, why does the number matter? We all want to look better, feel better and be healthier...there are far better and more effective ways to measure these things than the scales....I think I'll make the month of May, NO WEIGH MAY!

You Don't NEED Sugar In Your Tea and Coffee
The act of putting sugar in your tea and coffee is a deeply entrenched habit for many of us. Yet if you practice not adding sugar, you'll find that over time your cravings for it will disappear.

Do Something TODAY That Your Future Self Will Thank You For
If it were possible to go back in time and give the past you a list of do’s and don’ts that would improve your present life, what advice would you give to your past self?
Now take this list and apply it to your life today and every day so that your future self will have something to thank you for.

Drink Green Tea - It Increases Your Metabolism
Drinking green tea is one of the easiest ways to rev up your metabolism. A study reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that green tea-extract increases the metabolism by 4% over a 24 hour period.
Three to five cups a day can help you burn an extra 70 calories a day, which adds up to seven pounds a year, 35 pounds for five years and 70 pounds for 10 years.
Green tea has also been shown to inhibit fat absorption—the movement of glucose into fat cells, [support healthy] glucose levels after eating a meal, prevent insulin spikes which prevents fat storage, and reduce appetite.
Think three to five cups a day seems like a lot? Replace diet soda with my recipe for “green tea soda.” Spoon instant green tea into sparkling water like Perrier or club soda and you have a refreshing, bubbly drink. It’s great to get you through the 3:00pm slump, when you otherwise might reach for a soda or sugary snack. - Rebekah Baumgardner, BodyBuilding.Com
Wanna Bet You'll Lose Weight Next Month?
As I said in my last post, henceforth this blog will be a bit like a reportage on all things weight loss and fitness motivation and will no longer be just a motivational posters blog. So this means as well posting the occasional motivational poster, I'll also be bringing you info, videos, useful links, images, podcasts, and all things weight loss and fitness motivation that I find on the internet. So with that said here is my latest find:
BetWeight is an interesting weight loss motivation concept...it’s a sort of 'put your
money where your mouth is' contest that you play against yourself. Here is what it says on their website:
What is BetWeight?
The concept is very simple. You set a 1 month (30 day) weight loss goal and bet some money that you'll reach it.
If you succeed, you win your money back!
If you fall short, we donate it to a charity of your choice.
Is this gambling?
No. The outcome of your Challenge depends entirely on your own skill.
All the elements of weight loss are under your control, and yours alone (it's true!). The success of your Challenge does not depend on whether Manchester United wins on Saturday or the result of a coin toss.
It depends on you eating right, exercising and finding the willpower to keep that up for the next few weeks! Your money simply serves as an extremely powerful motivator.

Reward Your Own Behavior Not The Scale's
Use a calendar and gold stars to reward the efforts you are making. It may seem goofy, but it gives you a great snapshot of your efforts, so that next time you miss the gym or start to go back to old eating habits, you are less likely to feel like you failed at everything and give up. -WeightWatchers
Reward yourself when you perform a specific behavior that helps you achieve your ultimate goal—things like staying in your calorie range for the day, sticking to your exercise plan, choosing certain foods instead of others, getting enough sleep, and so on. Maybe you’ve also got some even more specific goals or problem areas you’re trying to work on within each of these areas—like saying no to second helpings, cooking at home instead of heading for the nearest drive-thru, or adding a little more intensity to your exercise session. -SparkPeople
