Get Sweaty and Do It Often

I recently took the decision to work out (on my elliptical) till I sweat for 30 minutes EVERY DAY. I used to try to workout 3-5 days per week but found it hard to get back into it after my days off, and often a whole week or more would pass before I would return to exercise again. Now daily, sweaty exercise, is a NON-NEGOTIABLE deal I've made with myself...and it's beginning to pay off.

The Scales Are Not The Only Way To Measure Progress

The scales cannot show ALL your progress. Sometimes while we are doing the wrong thing we are also in other areas doing the right thing. For example, If you drank more water today but still have a daily chocolate habit, the scales won't show that you're drinking more water. If you used to be really pessimistic about your ability to lose weight and today you've got a sudden burst of positive self-belief, the scales won't show this change in mindset. So notice, and take note of (perhaps in a journal) the many areas where you're making  positive changes towards a healthier, fitter you.

Set Goals and Monitor Progress

Tips
  1. Set realistic goals. A lot of small steps add up to big results.
  2. Use a 6 - 12 week time frame for best results. It's hard to be motivated toward a date that is a
  3. year or more in the future.
  4. Enter your body measurement and lifting progress and pics at least once a week so you can see how you are doing. Measure often!
  5. Let others know about your goals so you will have some peer pressure pushing you towards reaching them in time.
  6. Don't get discouraged by a few setbacks. Just pick yourself up and stick to your program.

Think Of How Far You've Already Come

Tonight when you lay your head on your pillow, forget how far you've got to go, think instead of how far you've already come.
