The Scales Don't Tell You Everything

The next time you feel discouraged because the scales aren't showing any weight loss despite the fact you've been exercising, remember you may have gained muscle and burnt fat, and since fat loss is the goal, not muscle loss, the scales are not always the best way to measure progress.

The Obesity Crisis

Although this info-graphic focuses on the obesity crisis in America there is evidence to show that many other countries are following closely behind these figures, so I think it's very important we all pay close attention to the information in this graphic.

It's Only a Fat Suit - You Can Take It Off

Take off the 'fat-suit' you don't need it anymore. The body you really want is underneath...Set it FREE

I was doodling yesterday and found myself drawing this fat-suit when it occurred to me that being overweight is merely a fat suit we’re wearing and we can take this fat suit off at any time with regular and consistent clean eating and exercise.

The Scales Are Not Always The Best Way To Measure Fat Loss

If you were to place 5lbs of fat and 5lbs of muscle side by side the fat would look about twice the size of the muscle because muscle tissue is more tightly packed than fat tissue. A 150lb person with toned muscle and a low percentage of body fat will appear slimmer than a 150lb person with low muscle development and a high percentage of body fat. As we get fitter we gain more muscle so the scales may not always accurately show our weight loss. So use other methods (as well as the scales) like a tape measure or the way your clothes fit to determine the amount of fat you've shed from your body.

Muscle Looks Smaller Than Fat

It's the fat on your body that makes you look fat. Muscle tissue looks smaller in size than fat of an equivalent weight. The more muscle you have the higher your metabolism will be and the more fat you will burn.
